Der Neubau für die Georg-Simon-Ohm-Hochschule kommt in die Bahnhofstraße auf ein derzeit als Parkplatz genutztes Grundstück, neben dem Dürrenhoftunnel und gegenüber dem schon bestehenden Hochschulgebäude, in dem die Betriebs- und Sozialwissenschaften untergebracht sind.
Die Entscheidung fiel gestern. Der Bau soll in der Rekordzeit von nur 14 Monaten fertiggestellt werden und kostet rund 20 Millionen Euro. Auf 5400 Quadratmetern werden 1812 neue Studienplätze untergebracht. Die Erweiterung der Ohm-Hochschule war notwendig geworden, um den Ansturm von Studienanfängern durch den doppelten Abiturjahrgang im nächsten Jahr bewältigen zu können.
